AWS at Fieldays: November 29th to December 3rd, 2022

Think about farming and you will most likely to think of images of livestock grazing or crops growing in a field. But in modern farming, every one of the hundreds of actions that take place each day creates data. And when that data is harvested and analysed, it provides a wealth of information that is benefitting farmers in countless ways. At Fieldays 2022, AWS will be showcasing the benefits digital technology is delivering to New Zealand’s agricultural sector.

New Zealand already boasts one of the top 10 global ecosystems for agtech, as measured by the Startup Genome: Global Startup Ecosystem Report 2019, with 20 per cent of very early stage startup investment going to the agtech and new food sector since 2013. We are pleased to support farmers, growers, ecologists, and other customers who serve the agricultural industry by creating cloud-based offerings that can help them make better decisions from data, and much of this work is brought to life by innovative agtech startups. Companies like Halter, creators of the wearable Cow Collar. Not only can the collar record data such as the cow’s position and movement, but it can also generate vibrations which can be used to encourage the cow to move to specific locations, such as to different areas of a paddock for feeding, or away from environmentally sensitive areas such as rivers. And Levno which has developed a suite of IoT monitoring devices that provide farmers with the edge they need to farm smarter, run more efficient operations, and improve productivity.

For Established organisations like the agricultural cooperative, Livestock Improvement Corporation (LIC), data has been core to its operations since its foundation in 1909. LIC provides farmers with services relating to livestock management and breeding, and over time the shift from paper-based records to digital formats has opened up many ways to leverage data to create better outcomes for the livestock community.

For over 15 years, Amazon Web Services has been the world’s most comprehensive and broadly adopted cloud platform. AWS has been continually expanding its services to support virtually any cloud workload, and it now has more than 200 fully featured services for compute, storage, databases, networking, analytics, machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), mobile, security, hybrid, virtual and augmented reality (VR and AR), media, and application development, deployment, and management.

We look forward to participating at Fieldays 2022 and hope to see you at our booth, with our partner Vodafone in the Innovation Tent.
