This helps make drivers aware of the latest road conditions so that they can make split-second decisions to prevent accidents. “AWS Wavelength provides our engineering teams with the infrastructure needed to address the challenges otherwise associated with conventional cloud products,” said Ravi Puvvala, CEO of Savari. “We aspire to further push the boundaries enabling use cases that were, in the past, not possible using conventional V2X technologies and the cloud.” Savari V2X-equipped vehicles can advise drivers to maintain a safe distance between other vehicles, and provide alerts about emergency brake lights ahead, collisions, and blind spots.Additionally, Savari V2X technology enables vehicles to alert drivers about unexpected vehicle movement in intersections, vehicles making sudden lane changes, and do-not-pass lanes. By providing drivers heads-up notifications about road conditions, Savari V2X also helps increase safety. Examples of notifications include proximity of vehicles to infrastructures, speed warnings for sharp curves or work zones, and in-vehicle signal phase and timing visualization.There are two features that set the Savari solution apart. First, Savari V2X software does not require line of sight to work, unlike traditional sensor technologies such as radar, lidar, and cameras, which can be compromised due to environmental conditions. As a result, Savari provides a reliable safety net that leads to greater driver awareness. Second, the high-bandwidth communication enables sensor data to exchange with other road entities such as cars and traffic lights up to a mile away. Being compliant with existing US and EU standards ensures there are no interoperability issues.To support applications that provide warning information to drivers and pedestrians in near-realtime, Savari leverages the ultra-low latency access to AWS compute and storage services enabled by AWS Wavelength at the Verizon 5G Edge.
